How to Sell Your Product on Different Social Platforms in the Philippines: Facebook, Instagram, Shopee, Carousell.

In online advertising, what's popular and what's not isn't exactly the same for every country. Some products and services are more in demand in certain regions as compared with another.

The discrepancy has something to do with demographics, culture, the strength and acceptability of different company's marketing campaigns and how effectively they reach their end consumers.

Unless you know exactly where your customers enjoy splurging their attention and money on, you'd have a hard time selling your products to them.

In this post, I'll summarize descriptions and comparisons of different popular eCommerce platforms and how you could use them to boost your sales and publicity.

Since this blog targets buyers and sellers in the Philippines, this list would only include the most popular platforms in the country.

1.Facebook

How and where you can find buyers: There are three popular ways to reach buyers. The first is through (1) joining Facebook buy and sell groups.

You could join one of these buy-and-sell groups which is composed of tens and thousands of active product traders that are very near to your current location.

Once a member, you're welcome to post any item you have to offer, providing you observed and followed the group's stated rules and guidelines.

The second and quick option would be to (2) directly post your product on the Marketplace.
This approach is direct to the point and allows you to simultaneously post one product across a maximum of 10 groups you're a member of.

The third way is the more formal approach. It's by (3) creating your own business page. This is only recommended for those of you with an online shop that offers stocks of products and services.

When should you use Facebook to sell: Use Facebook only when your products are heterogeneous and unique. A lot of preloved items are easily bought and sold on Facebook.

2. Instagram

How and where you can find buyers: Buyers in Instagram are simply users who aren't aware of your product and its usefulness to their lives yet. The fool proof way is to Set up your Instagram business account and start from there.

Once you're all set, you can begin searching through tags and following your target market.

When should you use Instagram to sell: Use Instagram only when your products are homogeneous and could be purchased in numbers.

Example: Retailing Phone Cases, Online Boutiques, Make up, etc.

3. Shopee

How and where you can find buyers: In this platform, if you aren't selling something, then you most definitely are buying something.

What with Shopee's heavy online advertising, more and more users are flocking to this platform.
Finding buyers is fairly easy, you just have to put in the work first and set up your Shopee shop.

Be careful when categorizing and describing your product as Shopee is very strict when it comes to classifications.

When should you use Shopee to sell: Like Instagram, use Shopee only when your products are homogeneous and could be purchased in numbers.

4. Carousell

How and where you can find buyers: Like Shopee, Carousell is heavily advertised in South East Asia as a platform for buying and selling.

Unlike Shopee however, most of the items being posted are pre-loved and slightly used goods.

Simply list the item you want to sell, add in more descriptions, and post them to different Carousell groups.

Carousell isn't as strict as Shopee and it offers a more relaxed environment.

When should you use Carousell to sell: Carousell is similar to Facebook in a sense that Carousell focuses more on heterogeneous products that have been loved and is now ready to change possession.

Carousell is perfect if you have an piece of clothing or a hobby equipment that is still in great condition, but you aren't exactly too keen about now.

So that's a quick run down of the most popular online platforms in the Philippines that you can use to sell your products.
